About

Dr Benjamin Parameswaran has extensive experience in global M&A, corporate law, and board level strategic advisory work, with a particular focus on complex cross border transactions for major multinational corporations.

He is particularly recognised for his deep expertise in the industrials and technology sectors and is widely regarded by all relevant directories as one of Germany’s leading M&A practitioners, having acted as lead adviser on a number of Europe’s most significant and high profile transactions.

Ben regularly advises boards and senior management teams of some of the world’s largest multinational corporations on complex strategic and transformational matters, including transactions and restructurings driven by energy transition and technological transformation. His clients include leading global companies across a variety of sectors, including BASF, Mercedes Benz, Daimler Truck, Heidelberg Materials, Qualcomm, and other major multinational groups.

He is a member of several legal associations, a frequent speaker at international conferences, and the author of numerous academic and business publications on international law.

Ben is a member of the DLA Piper Executive Committee and serves as the firm’s Managing Director for Clients. Prior to his current role, he was Global Co Chair of the firm’s Corporate/M&A practice from 2022 to 2024 and Managing Partner of DLA Piper Germany from 2014 to 2022. Before joining DLA Piper, he practised with law firms in New York, Düsseldorf, and Mumbai.

  • BASF on the acquisition of a 49.5% (EUR1.6bn) stake in the world’s largest offshore windfarm, Hollandse Kust Zuid in The Netherlands, from Vattenfall.
  • BASF on its EUR1.3bn acquisition of Solvay's global polyamide business.
  • Qualcomm on its USD3.5bn joint venture with TDK Corporation.
  • Daimler Truck on the establishment of a fuel cell joint venture with Volvo Group.
  • BMW Group and Mercedes-Benz Group jointly on the sale of their FreeNow mobility platform to Lyft.
  • Rolls-Royce on the acquisition of the e-aircraft business of Siemens.
  • Daimler Truck on its digital transformation joint venture with Volvo Group related to a common software-defined vehicle platform and a dedicated truck operating system.
  • Heidelberger Druckmaschinen on a comprehensive package of measures to increase its profitability and in connection with various strategic M&A transactions (e.g. on a Chinese production joint venture with Masterwork Group).
