Zuhair Riaz is developing a broad-based practice in complex commercial litigation dealing with securities, insurance, white collar, and complex contract disputes.

Zuhair has experience in representing M&A transaction liability insurers in disputes arising under representations and warranties insurance policies. His work includes managing, quantifying and resolving pre-dispute insurance claims for alleged losses arising out of M&A transactions.

Zuhair also assists with representing clients in a wide range of civil lawsuits, including litigation involving negligence, fraud, and breach of contract claims. His diverse litigation experience includes fact development and investigation, discovery management, depositions, witness preparation, and motions practice.

Zuhair regularly assists in representing clients in litigation in state and federal court, as well as arbitrations regarding business and contractual disputes within the construction, securities, privacy, product liability and insurance sectors.

  • Represented a Fortune 500 company in an American Arbitration Association (AAA) arbitration arising from a US$140 million corporate headquarters construction dispute, including defense against delay and scope-change claims
  • Represented London-based insurer in litigation seeking commercial property, builders risk, and business interruption coverage in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic
  • Authored and argued criminal appeal motions in the Appellate Court of Maryland
  • Represented insurers in cases involving indemnification, earn-out, breach of contract and fraud disputes arising out of public company and private equity M&A transactions

  • Co-chair, The Pro Bono Committee, Maryland State Bar Association, Young Lawyers Section
  • Co-chair, Wills for Heroes Foundation, Maryland Chapter

Additionally, Zuhair has handled criminal appeals before the Appellate Court of Maryland through the Maryland Office of the Public Defender. He has also focused on issues related to estate-planning for low-income individuals.
