DLA Piper advise Imperbel group shareholders on sale to Kingspan

DLA Piper Belgium has advised the shareholders of the Imperbel group, known under the brand name Derbigum, on the recent sale of their entire stake to Kingspan.

Derbigum has been a family owned company since 1932 and specialises in sustainable waterproof roofing for flat roofs. As a result of this acquisition, Kingspan, a global leader in advanced insulation and innovative building solutions, will be able to further develop its product and systems offering in the building sector. In particular Derbigum’s commitment to sustainability, with its “No Roof to Waste” program, is the perfect cultural fit with Kingspan’s own Planet Passionate commitment.

Derbigum, headquartered in Beersel (south of Brussels), has been family owned since 1932 and has about 90 years of experience in the manufacture, sale and installation of waterproof roofing. It currently employs over 300 people at 6 locations in Europe.

The DLA Piper team was led by partner Michael Heene (Corporate/M&A, Antwerp) and included lead lawyer Charlotte Peeters (Corporate/M&A, Brussels), Pieter Vermeulen (Corporate/M&A, Antwerp), partner Nicolas Engelmann (Tax, Brussels) and partner Daniel Colgan (Competition, Brussels).
