Sydney maintains a regulatory practice, advising clients on telecommunications, aviation, competition and other regulatory matters.

Sydney has experience assisting Canadian and international clients with a broad range of matters, including aviation regulatory compliance, telecommunications authorizations, licencing and registration, and issues related to foreign-ownership in the telecommunications and broadcasting sectors. She has also assisted clients with clearances under the Investment Canada Act and Competition Act.

Sydney received her J.D. from the University of Ottawa, where she worked as a research assistant through the Centre for Law, Technology and Society’s Technoship Program, conducting research on privacy and copyright law. Sydney was also accepted into the University of Ottawa’s bilingual blockchain law course, and volunteered with the university chapter of the Women’s Legal Education and Action Fund (LEAF).

Prior to joining DLA Piper, Sydney worked for the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC), Canada’s telecommunications and broadcasting regulator.
