DLA Piper assists Waterlogic on New Zealand entry

Global law firm DLA Piper has advised Waterlogic on its acquisition of hydration solution provider and long-term distribution partner Merquip. The acquisition results in a direct presence for Waterlogic in New Zealand for the first time, building upon its prominence in Australia.

Waterlogic is a global leader in the purified drinking water dispensers market and is a portfolio company of European PE investor Castik Capital. The strategic acquisition enables Waterlogic to expand its offering, introducing its point-of-use (POU) dispensers and Purezza hospitality products into New Zealand.

The New Zealand deal team, driven by corporate duo Martin Wiseman, Partner and Aoife O'Gorman, Senior Associate, guided Waterlogic throughout the acquisition process, advising on all transitional matters to achieve a successful outcome.

“We value our relationship with DLA Piper, who have now assisted us effectively with many deals in Australia and New Zealand.  DLA Piper’s knowledge, proactive approach and speed were evident in this, our first successful NZ transaction,” says Carl Crowley, Chief Executive Officer of Waterlogic Australasia.

Alongside Aoife and Martin, the core team included solicitor, Daniel O'Brien, and was supported by employment partner, Laura Scampion and solicitor, Jordan Jeffcoat, and partners Nick Valentine (IPT) and Justin Martin (RE). The New Zealand team worked in collaboration with Australian counterparts partner, Dr. Gerry Bean and special counsel, Dylan Burke, to provide seamless Trans-Tasman support.

"We are proud to have assisted the Waterlogic team in their entry into the New Zealand market and we look forward to watching Waterlogic's continued growth as the go-to provider of hydration solutions in New Zealand and beyond", says Martin.
