DLA Piper Peru announces new office leadership
DLA Piper is pleased to announce the appointment of Luis Vargas and Sergio Barboza as Co-Managing Partners of the Peru office. This leadership transition represents a significant advancement in the firm’s ongoing expansion in Latin America.
Vargas has extensive experience in M&A as well as private equity, focusing on local and cross-border corporate structures, corporate governance practices, and general contract negotiation. He provides legal advice in reorganization matters as well as complex corporate transactions in national and international franchises and joint ventures.
Barboza’s practice focuses on banking and finance, fintech, capital markets, and insurance, with experience in a wide range of transactional and banking regulatory matters, including formation or acquisitions of financial institutions, issuance of debt and equity securities, and all aspects of banking supervisory issues.

Former managing partner Ricardo Escobar will remain actively engaged with the firm as a counselor to the Executive Committee. He will also resume his leadership of the Project Finance and Energy and Natural Resources practices.
