Marco Salgado is a partner in the Corporate and M&A area at DLA Piper in Chile. He regularly advises local and multinational companies and investors in various sectors, including consumer goods, infrastructure, life sciences, and energy.

Marco has extensive experience advising on mergers and acquisitions in various industries, both public and private companies, in local and international transactions. He also advises global companies on establishing their activities in the country and corporate matters, including corporate governance.

His experience also includes representing clients in local and international commercial litigation and arbitration, having appeared before Chilean and foreign courts.

Marco has had an academic and teaching career for over twenty years. He has been a professor of Mergers and Acquisitions in the LL.M. program at the Faculty of Law of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and the Corporate Governance Diploma UC since its first edition, in addition to several other postgraduate courses throughout his career.

EXPERIENCE

  • Innergex Renewable Energy Inc., as borrower, in the structuring and executing a US$ 803.1 million refinancing transaction for its portfolio of assets in Chile through a US$ 710 million private placement green bond and a US$ 93.1 million credit agreement. Infrastructure Finance. 
  • Innergex Renewable Energy Inc. in the acquisition of 100% of the shares of Aela Generación S.A. and Aela Energía SpA, corresponding to a portfolio of 332 MW in three operating wind farms (Sarco, Cuel, and Aurora) located in Chile for US$685.6 million.
  • Bupa Chile S.A. on the sale of 100% of its equity interest in Corporación Médica de Arica S.A. (equivalent to 68.97% of such company’s stock) to RedInterclínica S.A., a leading Chilean company in clinical services, with more than 42,000 square meters of clinical space. 
  • Makros SpA on the structuring and executing an asset purchase and sale agreement and business, under which the assets, clients, and relevant contracts of Makros were transferred to Deloitte.
  • Colegium SpA on signing a contract to sell assets and accompanying documents, by which Colegium SpA acquired the main assets of Incremental SpA. 
  • American Tower Corporation in the acquisition of Telxius Towers Latam Division, through the execution of a Share Purchase Agreement entered between American Tower International, Inc. and Telxius Telecom, S.A. over 100% of the share capital of Telxius Torres Latam, S.L.U.  This deal was awarded 2021 LatAm Deal of the Year by TTR (Transactional Track Record).
  • American Tower Corporation on purchasing 30,722 telecommunication towers from Telefónica Group in Europe (Germany and Spain) and Latin America (Brazil, Chile, Argentina, and Peru).
  • Pharol's strategic agreement with FASA to market its products online in Chile.
  • L'Oréal Chile on corporate and commercial matters in Chile.
  • Infosys on corporate and commercial issues in Chile.
  • Inversiones Romy on corporate and commercial issues in Chile.
