Eduardo Gallástegui advises Mexican and international companies in matters related to telecommunications, corporate, mergers and acquisitions, arbitration, maritime trade, antitrust, international trade, foreign investment, health, legislative and governmental affairs, media, sports and entertainment, and pharmaceutical, among others.

He has additionally advised national and multinational companies on investigations carried out by government enforcement agencies, compliance and anti-corruption matters.

EXPERIENCE

Advised a research healthcare company in two successful amparo trials for products intended for oncology purposes, the acquisition of two pharmaceutical manufacturers, the contesting of several awards to public auctions related to the acquisition of drugs by public sector agencies, and all antitrust, intellectual property and litigation related matters.

Advised a research healthcare company on the crisis management related to the alleged insufficiency of a product during the flu epidemic in 2009 and the 2015-2016 flu season

Counseled a pharmaceutical company on the development, manufacturing and commercialization of the first Mexican vaccine against the flu. The services included the implementation of an in-bond scenario to allow the performance of certain secondary processes in France

Counseled a pharmaceutical company in connection with antitrust, intellectual property and compliance matters, as well as with various regulatory procedures, specifically related to the obtainment and modification of the conditions of the sanitary registration of drugs (ie, marketing authorizations) from the competent health authorities and Mexican FDA

Assisted in the preparation, negotiation and lobbying of the amendments related to the General Health Law in order to establish legislation to biosimilar drugs in Mexico

Prior Experience

In 1985, Eduardo founded Gallástegui y Lozano, a boutique law firm that merged with DLA Piper after 30 years in the Mexican legal market.  Eduardo acted as Managing Partner of DLA Piper’s Mexico City office from 2015 to 2022 and was named an Emeritus Managing Partner.
