EXPERIENCE

Advised a key Australian consumer complaints body in relation to the strategic digital transformation of its key business systems.
Advised an Australian bank in relation to the renegotiation of its arrangements underlying its key customer-generation software, which took place in the broader context of a systems integration project arising as a result of a merger of various entities.
Advised a range of Australian financial services providers in the outsourcing of their respective contact centre capabilities and negotiating the contractual framework underlying the relevant outsourcings, against international, market-leading suppliers. These outsourcings were critical for the continued operation of the consumer-facing businesses of these institutions.
Advised an Australian financial services provider in relation to a number of its high-value strategic telecommunications projects, including the renegotiation of its arrangements with its various key telecommunications providers for various services.
Advised an Australian ‘Big 4’ bank in respect of the procurement of the Mastercard Payment Gateway System.
Advised an Australian financial services provider in relation to the procurement of an integrated software solution designed to assist in achieving compliance with the Consumer Data Right data protection regime in Australia.
Advised an Australian electricity distributor in relation to a procurement of a hybrid Software-as-a-Service/on-premise ERP and EAM solution from SAP, as well as the related four-staged, multi-vendor implementation process. This complex transaction assisted in transforming the client’s key business and IT processes.
Advised an international insurer in relation to a multi-vendor outsourcing of its production and disaster recovery data centre capabilities throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
Advised various public and private entities in respect of the IT separation and transition activities to be undertaken in the broader context of mergers and acquisitions projects.

Prior Experience

Alex has been retained for two strategic secondments to two of Australia’s ‘Big 4’ banks, advising in relation to business-critical technology matters, including the negotiation of as-a-Service outsourcing, software licensing, services procurement (including professional services) transactions, development and implementation of new and emerging technologies.

Additional Information:

Alex utilises his journalism degree to assist in the:

production of articles, client alerts, tender responses, pitch documents, client guides, training materials, and legislative and regulatory submissions;
review and general improvement of precedents agreements and commercial documents.

Alex also ensures that he uses his skills for the benefit of those less fortunate, and dedicates as much time as is possible to assisting pro bono clients. To this end, Alex regularly seeks opportunities to assist clients in the mental health space.
