About

Morgan McDonald’s practice is, on one hand, focused on assisting ‎founders and established companies in growth stage companies, including in technology and  technology facing businesses and emerging markets from early stages, through growth and ultimately exit. Morgan also supports companies in b2b and consumer facing goods and services expand to new markets, typically cross border. ‎ ‎ 
The other half of Morgan’s practice is supporting investors (venture capital, corporate venture capital, and private equity) invest in growth stage companies from both a bottom line and strategic perspective. Supporting entrepreneurs and investors allows Morgan a unique lens into the needs of each party, enabling her to provide practical and efficient solutions to deal issues as they arise. 

Morgan is a go to resource for cross border growth and as needs arise, ‎Morgan assists companies and investors with debt and equity financing ‎from friends and family and seed through ‎series rounds and private equity and venture capital ‎opportunities by negotiating and managing transactions from ‎term sheet through close. ‎ Regardless of the space, Morgan provides value to new and repeat entrepreneurs and investors using a ‎‎business centric and practical approach to solving business and legal needs at any stage.

Morgan is active in the startup and technology community, partnering as a mentor with a number of ‎accelerators and incubators ‎and speaking regularly to entrepreneurs and providing office hours.‎

Prior to earning her LL.M. from the University of British Columbia, Morgan externed at the United States ‎‎District Court for the Central District of California and was called to the California State Bar.‎

Morgan is a member of the Canadian firm’s Black and Indigenous Business ‎Law Clinic (the “Clinic”), which provides qualifying Black and Indigenous founders with practical and timely corporate and commercial legal advice. In 2022, the Clinic was one of four recipients to receive the Justice Seymour Simon Award recognizing outstanding pro bono work done by a team of lawyers and staff at the firm.
