Emily Maus
AssociateEmily Maus assists a wide variety of clients in understanding federal and state data privacy and security obligations, with a focus on health information. She counsels clients in the preparation of privacy-focused compliance programs and risk assessments and works closely with clients responding to privacy and security incidents.
Emily's experience includes advising clients on the requirements of HIPAA, HITECH, CCPA, CMIA, GDPR and various state-specific laws and regulations.

Pro Bono
Emily works on a number of pro-bono matters, including volunteering with the Whitman Walker Health Center name and gender change clinic, supporting Lawyer's Committee for Civil Rights under Law initiatives and assisting non-profit institutions with privacy and data security compliance concerns.
Prior Experience
Before joining DLA Piper, Emily was an associate at a national law firm where she counselled clients on privacy and data security issues and assisted life science companies in complex transactional matters. She also assisted clients in clean energy project development, including microgrids, on-site generation and large scale energy procurement.
