DLA Piper partner Dean Fealk joins as California delegate for 2023 Japan Clean Energy Trade Mission

DLA Piper is pleased to announce that Dean Fealk, the firm’s Northern California co-regional managing partner, will represent California as a delegate on its historic trade and investment mission to Japan.

The 2023 Japan Clean Energy Trade Mission will build on the Memorandum of Cooperation signed between California Governor Gavin Newsom and Japanese Ambassador Koji Tomita in March 2022 to tackle climate change and strengthen trade relations. This trade mission presents a unique opportunity for California participants to explore business opportunities, showcase products and services, and build new partnerships in Japan.

Targeted businesses are those representing the clean energy sectors, including but not limited to: Renewable Energy, Zero Emission Vehicles and Infrastructure, Fuel Cell, Energy Efficiency and Storage, Decarbonization, Smart Grid, Climate Smart Agriculture Technologies, etc. Ambassador Eleni Kounalakis, Lt. Governor of California Dee Dee Myers, Director of California Governor's Office of Business and Official, California Energy Commission (CEC) Official, California Air Resources Board (CARB) Official, California State Transportation Agency (CalSTA) Official, California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA).

Fealk, a Wall Street Journal-bestselling author whose thought leadership has appeared in Forbes, The Atlantic and NPR, advises innovative companies on strategic issues related to complex international regulatory challenges. He also advises world leaders and politicians on public policy issues across international trade, economics and foreign policy. He has advised three US presidential campaigns and represented the state of California on trade and investment missions around the globe.

Active in civic leadership, serves on the California Workforce Development Board, as chair emeritus of the Northern California District Export Council and as a founding member of the Halifax International Security Forum. He served as national co-chair of Lawyers for Biden and serves on the board of directors of the National Democratic Institute, the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, Bay Area Council and the California Business Roundtable, and as a trustee of World Affairs. He has been designated an honorary Senator of the German Economy, an Eisenhower Fellow to China, a Marshall Memorial Fellow to the EU, a Fulbright Scholar to Korea, a Presidential Leadership Scholar, a Carnegie New Leader and a Truman National Security Fellow.
