Danny Westmoreland is a private equity and M&A lawyer, working across a number of sectors, with a particular focus on media, sport and entertainment.

Danny acts for private equity investors, management teams and portfolio companies in relation to buyouts, exits, restructurings, bolt-ons and management incentive plans.

Danny works with media and entertainment companies, sports teams, owners and investors on a range of M&A activity including acquisitions, disposals and joint ventures.

Danny has been seconded to the Premier League and LDC, the private equity arm of Lloyds Banking Group, both of which provided him with insights of real value.

  • Warner Bros. Discovery Inc. on its 50:50 joint venture with BT Group plc to create a new sports venture in the UK, TNT Sports, by combining Eurosport UK and BT Sport.
  • Los Angeles Football Club on its partnership with FC Bayern Munich in relation to a global soccer development cooperation, named “Red&Gold Football”, which will provide a platform for young talent featuring high-level development and a pathway to first team football.
  • The lead-investor in a consortium pursuing the acquisition of Chelsea Football Club.
  • Owners and investors on the acquisition and disposal of several football clubs.
  • LDC on its investment in Ashtons Hospital Pharmacy Services.
  • Graphite Capital on its investment in Wonderbly, an online publisher making personalised books for children and adults.
  • G.Network, a full fibre broadband operator, and its major shareholder, Cube Infrastucture Partners, in relation to the equity investment by Universities Superannuation Scheme as part of an over £1 billion equity and debt fundraising.
  • Oakley Capital on its €132.6 million acquisition of the European businesses of online real estate marketing and advertising company REA Group.
  • Combell Group, a leader in mass hosting services for SMEs across Europe, and Management shareholders on the buyout by Hg Capital; Combell Group on its subsequent acquisition of TransIP Group, to create team.blue; and team.blue on its acquisition of Register Group, an international leader in digital services for professionals.
  • Management on the €4.5 billion buyout of ekterra, Unilever’s tea business, by CVC Capital Partners.
  • Management on Temasek’s acquisition of Element Materials Technology, a global leader in testing, inspection, and certification (TIC) services, from Bridgepoint.
  • Management on KSL Capital Partner’s acquisition of a majority interest in Third Space, the luxury health and fitness brand, from Encore Capital.
  • Blackstone on the sale of the Times Square building at 160 Queen Victoria Street, London to Generali for approximately GBP 450 million; and the sale of the Guernsey property unit trust, which holds the commercial property at Alban Gate, for GBP 295 million to a joint venture between King Street and Arax Partners.
