About

Tamar Duvdevani is a nationally recognized trial lawyer and brand strategist who helps companies protect their brands, content, advertising, and reputations in high-stakes disputes. She represents leading consumer products, apparel, sports, entertainment, media, and technology companies in trademark, copyright, false advertising, right of publicity, false endorsement, and unfair competition matters throughout the United States. Her approach combines early case assessment, creative motion practice, and a willingness to try cases, giving clients leverage at every stage.

As US Chair of DLA Piper's Trademark, Copyright and Media practice — one of the largest and most geographically diverse IP litigation platforms in the country — Tamar leads a team of attorneys coordinating multi-jurisdictional enforcement campaigns and complex brand-protection strategies for some of the world's most valuable companies. Companies turn to her at inflection points — when a matter requires both sophisticated legal strategy and practical business judgment, whether before disputes arise or when in-depth knowledge is needed in the courtroom.

A seasoned advocate, Tamar has secured victories in jury trials, preliminary injunction and TRO proceedings, summary judgment and other motion practice, appeals, and other high-stakes disputes nationwide. She is particularly known for her ability to translate complex legal and factual issues into compelling courtroom narratives and for anticipating litigation leverage points before they shape the course of a case. A forceful advocate when litigation is warranted, Tamar is equally valued for helping clients navigate risk, protect business objectives, and resolve disputes efficiently.

Representative experience includes:

  • Obtaining an $11 million federal jury verdict for Nike in a trademark counterfeiting and trade dress litigation
  • Representing major consumer-facing brands in significant trademark, copyright, trade dress, and brand-enforcement disputes nationwide, including matters involving global apparel, footwear, beverage, and technology companies
  • Securing significant victories in copyright litigation for leading entertainment, publishing, media, and consumer-brand clients, including cases involving digital content, streaming, and AI-generated works
  • Prosecuting and defending false advertising and unfair competition claims for market-leading companies across a variety of industries, including consumer products, health and wellness, food and beverage, and financial services
  • Handling right-of-publicity, endorsement, sponsorship, and licensing disputes involving athletes, entertainers, media personalities, and major consumer brands
  • Achieving victories in preliminary injunction proceedings involving trademark and unfair competition claims, including obtaining emergency relief on expedited timelines
  • Successfully challenging and defending consumer surveys, damages, and industry experts in complex intellectual property and advertising litigation

Chambers USA describes Tamar as "one of very few people I'd want in my corner in a tough fight." Clients further note that she is "a true litigation warrior" who anticipates opponent tactics and procedural leverage points — a quality on display in matters where early identification of procedural pressure points has driven favorable resolutions before trial. Clients praise her rare combination of litigation strategy and commercial judgment.

Tamar clerked in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York for Magistrate Judge Andrew J. Peck. She serves on the S.D.N.Y. / E.D.N.Y. Rules Committee and the Intellectual Property committee of the Federal Bar Council.
