Daniel Nettles represents clients in all aspects of sophisticated, challenging, and often high stakes tax disputes. 

In federal civil tax controversy matters, Daniel represents clients in IRS audits, in protests to the IRS Independent Office of Appeals, and in tax litigation in the United States Tax Court and the United States District Court. In state and local civil tax controversy matters, Daniel represents clients in tax disputes with state and local taxing jurisdictions throughout the US. In those matters, he has represented clients in audits involving income, gross receipts, franchise and sales and use taxes.

    Prior Experience

    Prior to joining DLA Piper, Daniel was an attorney in the Office of Chief Counsel for the Internal Revenue Service where he represented the Service on various tax issues in US Tax Court. While with the Office of Chief Counsel, Daniel received numerous favorable opinions from the US Tax Court.
