DLA Piper (Canada) LLP welcomes Partner Shea Coulson
DLA Piper (Canada) LLP is pleased to announce that Shea Coulson has joined the Vancouver office as a partner in our Litigation, Arbitration and Investigations group.
Shea assists public and privately held companies with complex business-to-business, shareholder, governance and regulatory disputes. In his disputes practice, Shea works with clients in the forest products, mining, transportation, technology services, liquor, hospitality and cannabis industries. He also advises public issuers in a range of industries with disputes arising in public markets financing and assists Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada-regulated investment banks with a variety of regulatory and commercial matters.
Shea regularly acts for shippers in arbitrations under the Canada Transportation Act and regulatory proceedings before the Canadian Transportation Agency relating to rail freight rates and service issues. He also acts for shippers in related commercial disputes with carriers and terminals.
Having acted as external counsel in civil asset seizure cases for the Attorney General of British Columbia for more than a decade, Shea brings an extensive background to his white-collar defense, fraud and investigations practice. He now uses his former ‘prosecutorial’ experience to assist companies seeking recovery for corporate/commercial fraud and related wrongs.
Prior to joining DLA Piper, Shea was partner at a Canadian business law firm for a number of years.
“We are delighted to welcome Shea to the firm,” said Robert Seidel, K.C., Canada Managing Partner. “Shea is a highly regarded practitioner known for his diligent, practical and strategic approach when assisting clients across a wide range of industries with complex disputes and litigation. He is an excellent addition to our Litigation, Arbitration and Investigations group and I look forward to working with him.”
