DLA Piper advises PAVO on the acquisition of Mühldorfer Pferdefutter

DLA Piper has advised PAVO and its listed parent company ForFarmers N.V. on the acquisition of Mühldorfer Pferdefutter, the horse feed portfolio of German animal feed manufacturer Mühldorfer Nutrition AG under the Mühldorfer Pferdefutter brand. Through the acquisition of the horse feed portfolio Mühldorfer Pferdefutter, PAVO is significantly increasing its market share and revenue in Germany.

ForFarmers (Lochem, the Netherlands) is an internationally operating feed company that offers Total Feed solutions for conventional and organic livestock farming. ForFarmers has approximately 2,600 employees. In 2019, the turnover amounted to approximately EUR2.5 billion. PAVO, the brand under which ForFarmers N.V. is active in the horse sector worldwide, sells its products in over 30 countries. The products (bagged goods and supplements) of the horse feed brand Mühldorfer Pferdefutter are predominantly being sold in Germany. Both PAVO and Mühldorfer develop their own product concepts, but have outsourced the production of the feed to ForFarmers and third parties.

The DLA Piper team in Munich was led by partner Gerald Schumann and senior associate Hanna Lütkens (both Corporate/M&A). The team also comprised partner Pascal Kremp (Employment, Munich), senior associate Miraj Kavruk (IPT, Frankfurt) and associates Annika Heinz (Employment, Munich) and Jessica Herrmann (Corporate/M&A, Munich). Amsterdam-based partners Daphne Bens (Corporate) and Martijn van Wanroij (Lit & Reg) also advised on the transaction.

The team at ForFarmers N.V. was led by general counsel Ilse Niehof-Duivelshof.
