Keara Gordon named to the National Law Journal's 2021 list of Crisis Leadership Trailblazers

DLA Piper is pleased to announce that Keara M. Gordon, co-chair of the firm's US Class Action Litigation practice and a leader of the global practice, has been named a 2021 Crisis Leadership Trailblazer by the National Law Journal.

The publication selected Gordon for the work that she and her team did at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic to identify the litigation threats looming for her clients, creating a tracking system for COVID-19 class action filings in US, Canadian and global courts, and using that information to help her clients anticipate and mitigate litigation risk. When that litigation risk materialized, Gordon and her team began working with companies subjected to COVID-19-related class actions, and, among other things, secured the dismissal of four putative nationwide class actions against New York University challenging its transition to remote learning and seeking the return of tuition and fees.

Keara Gordon's practice includes the defense of bet-the-company class actions and complex litigation across a variety of substantive areas, including consumer, securities, privacy and insurance litigation in a myriad of industries. Over the last 28 years, she has defended dozens of putative class actions and other complex commercial litigation matters with cumulative exposure in the billions of dollars, won a complete defense verdict as first-chair trial counsel after a 61-day trial, won dozens of motions to dismiss, successfully defeated class certification, won summary judgment motions, won appeals and secured favorable settlements for her clients.
