DLA Piper partners John Gibson and Melanie Walker named to the Los Angeles Business Journal’s 2022 Leaders of Influence: Litigators and Trial Attorneys list
DLA Piper is pleased to announce that Los Angeles-based partners John Gibson and Melanie Walker were named to the Los Angeles Business Journal’s 2022 Leaders of Influence: Litigators and Trial Attorneys list, honoring the top litigators in the region.
Gibson focuses his practice on antitrust, commercial, healthcare and technology litigation, including class action and multi-district litigation. He has won high-profile trials and cases in California and around the nation for healthcare and technology companies, as well as professional sports teams and pro bono clients. The publication highlighted Gibson’s success in the “Trial of the Decade” in Los Angeles and some of his recent accomplishments, including winning summary judgment for a leading technology company on an unfair competition law claim in precedent-setting antitrust and contract litigation and successfully arguing a motion to transfer multiple putative class actions around the nation to the Northern District of California for a top Silicon Valley technology company.
Walker handles securities litigation, accountant’s liability, and business and shareholder disputes involving complex economic and accounting issues. She also has experience representing clients in bankruptcy-related litigation and advising clients on how to avoid litigation before it is filed. She has handled matters in federal and state trial and appellate courts across the country and in private arbitration. The publication noted that she has “tackled novel issues in the securities litigation space and beyond” throughout her career and has made a substantial impact since her move to DLA Piper in 2021.
