DLA Piper advises Africa Global Logistics on the concession the Port of Lobito in Angola
DLA Piper advised Africa Global Logistics on the signing of the concession contract for the operation of the Multipurpose Container and General Cargo Terminal at the Port of Lobito, Angola, which took place on 11 December.
This concession will run for 20 years and will cover rights to use the Terminal, including the public domain of the port, Angola's second busiest port by cargo handled. The operation includes an investment of more than EUR100 million to transform the Port of Lobito into a port hub, improving connectivity, commercial growth and industrial involvement in the region.
The DLA Piper team was led by André Duarte Figueira, a partner in the firm’s Infrastructure, Construction and Transport practice. He was supported by colleagues from ADCA - Advogados Carvalho & Associados (part of DLA Piper Africa).
Nuno Azevedo Neves, Country Managing Partner, DLA Piper in Portugal, added: "This is yet another DLA Piper project involving multiple jurisdictions, in this case with a special focus on Angola and Portugal, but also with relevance for the other African countries, and in the essential sector of Energy and Infrastructures. This concession contract will boost the terminal's productivity and contribute to the region's sustainable growth."
Africa Global Logistics is owned by the Mediterranean Shipping Company Group (MSC Group), is present in 49 countries and operates 21 port concessions.
