DLA Piper partner Jamila Justine Willis named to Bloomberg Law's They've Got Next: 40 Under 40 list
DLA Piper is pleased to announce that Jamila Justine Willis, co-chair of the firm’s Consumer Goods and Retail sector and chair of the New York Restructuring practice, was named to Bloomberg Law’s inaugural They’ve Got Next: 40 Under 40 list highlighting up-and-coming attorneys across various practices.
Willis’s recent work includes representing Abengoa and its subsidiaries in their global restructuring, medical device manufacturer REVA Medical Inc. in connection with its pre-packaged restructuring transaction, and Otsuka America Pharmaceutical Inc. in connection with its acquisition of substantially all assets of Proteus Digital Health.
“Practicing as a restructuring attorney affords me the opportunity to negotiate solutions to complex problems on behalf of my clients and, specifically, to help companies weather financial distress, while saving jobs and maintaining necessary operations,” she told Bloomberg Law. “Through the REVA restructuring and distressed acquisition of Proteus’s assets, my clients and I were able to ensure the continued advancement of critical medical technology during a year when health and medical advancements were front of mind for many people throughout the world. I am constantly proud of the results my clients and I are able to achieve together.”
In her practice, Willis focuses on financial and corporate restructuring. She has extensive experience in complex restructurings across a number of industries. She represents debtors, distressed investors, sponsors, purchasers of distressed assets and other interested parties in a wide range of restructuring and insolvency matters, including cases under chapters 11 and 15 of the US Bankruptcy Code and cross-border insolvency proceedings.
