Leith Gouta advises clients on large scale cross-border transactions in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa in the energy and infrastructure sectors.

Leith has advised on a number of matters involving the full lifecycle of energy (both O&G and renewables) and infrastructure projects, including advising governments on the tender and procurement process of projects, advising sponsors and lenders on the development and financing of projects from bid submission to financial close, and advising sponsors and investors on the sale and purchase of assets.

Leith is trilingual in English, French and Arabic.

EXPERIENCE

Leith's experience includes advising:

  • A developer on the renegotiation of the project agreements relating to an operational power and desalination plant in Oman following expiry of the term under the existing project agreements.
  • Sponsors on the development of a sewage treatment plant in Uzbekistan.
  • A Singaporean developer on their bid to OQ for the development of a solar plant with battery storage in Oman.
  • A French developer as lender legal advisor supporting on their bid to EWEC for the development of a 1.5 GW solar PV plant in Khazna, Abu Dhabi.
  • A French utility developer as lender legal advisor supporting on their bid for the development of four solar plants in Saudi Arabia as part of the fifth round of the national renewable energy programme in Saudi Arabia (REPDO 5).
  • Masdar, EDFR and NESMA Company on the development up to financial close of a 1.1 GW solar PV plant in Al Henakiyah, Saudi Arabia as part of the fourth round of the national renewable energy programme in Saudi Arabia (REPDO 4).
  • A regional developer on its bid to OQAE and PDO for the development of a solar plant with battery storage and two wind plants in Oman.
  • A consortium member on its JV for the development of a green steel production facility in the UAE.
  • The Kuwaiti government on the development and procurement of the first round of solar projects in Kuwait.
  • An international consortium as lenders’ legal advisor supporting for the development of a CCGT plant in KSA.
  • Sponsors on the development of a desulfurization plant in Saudi Arabia.
  • The government of a west African country on various mandates including the renegotiation of their LNG sale and purchase agreement.
  • A financial institution as lender legal advisor, supporting a local developer on the development of a housing project tendered by Saudi Aramco for the housing of its staff.
