I am currently handling two very high-profile cases before Brazilian courts.

I represent a DLA Piper UK’s client as Defendant in a Class Action where there is a USD 300 million damage claim. The case is constantly appearing at the news.

I also represent a Brazilian client in an energy blackout incident in 2020. The blackout was initiated in a fire in one of our client’s facilities.  A preliminary decision ordered our client to resume full energy provision to the State within 3 days, under a penalty of BRL 50 million. We managed to revert this decision and full energy supply was re-established 20 days later with no penalty to our client. It was a great victory, especially because the fire that caused the lack of energy happened in our client’s facility, which already generated losses to our client. Since December there have been other blackouts in the State as a consequence of our client’s operation and we manage to keep the client free from penalties. This is the largest energy disaster in Brazil’s history (20 days with partial lack of energy).
