About

Ignacio advises on many aspects of trade compliance and supply chain, with a particular focus on economic sanctions and export controls. He has experience advising international clients across a range of sectors including technology & telecommunications, pharma, financial services & insurance, energy, aviation, maritime, as well as luxury and other consumer goods.

He provides day to day complex cross-border transactional advice on economic sanctions and assists with the design and implementation of compliance programmes. Ignacio also represents clients before European sanctions regulators, such as the Member States’ competent authorities or the European Commission, in relation to license applications, reporting obligations and consultations.

In addition, Ignacio advises clients on EU tech regulatory and policy matters, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), satellites and telecommunications.

EXPERIENCE

  • Regularly advising on economic sanctions and export controls to clients in a wide range of sectors, such as financial services, maritime, aviation, energy, technology & telecommunications, and consumer goods.
  • Representing clients before national competent authorities and assisting them with license applications and notifications, particularly in the context of EU sanctions against Russia.
  • Supporting several international financial institutions (including through an external secondment) with their sanctions compliance obligations in the framework of their global operations.
