Markus focuses his practice on assisting institutional investors with the legal review of alternative investments. He negotiates the terms of various types of private funds including private equity, venture capital and hedge funds, as well as co-investments, covering a wide range of strategies. Markus has experience representing both U.S.-based and international clients, including pension plans, university endowments, foundations, family offices, funds of funds, and sovereign wealth funds.
Prior to joining DLA Piper, Markus worked in the investment management and capital markets groups of international law firms in Japan and the United States. His prior experience includes representing Japanese issuers and underwriters in connection with global equity and debt offerings and assisting asset management firms with a range of cross-border regulatory issues.
