Melanie Tsang is a Policy Advisor in the National Security and Global Trade group at DLA Piper, where she advises US companies and foreign investors on all aspects of the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) review process, from early transaction planning, due diligence, and risk assessment, through filing, review, and resolution.
Melanie works with clients across a broad range of sectors subject to US foreign direct investment oversight, helping them anticipate areas of government focus, manage regulatory risk, and engage effectively with US government stakeholders.
Prior to joining DLA Piper, Melanie was a Senior Policy Advisor at the US Department of the Treasury, where she worked on CFIUS reviews and investigations for approximately four years. In this role, she evaluated complex transactions for potential national security implications across a diverse set of industries and risk profiles, and she designed and negotiated national security mitigation agreements to address identified risks.
Melanie's government experience provides clients with practical insight into CFIUS review dynamics, mitigation expectations, and effective engagement strategies informed by firsthand experience within the interagency process.
