Karen Young is an English qualified lawyer and is Head of DLA Piper's English law hub based in Budapest. She specialises in all types of financial transactions including project, trade, real estate, acquisition finance and restructuring.

Karen was previously based in DLA Piper's Moscow office, where she was the Head of the Finance, Project & Restructuring practice.

In 2025, Karen was recognised as a „Notable Practitioner” by IFLR1000 in Hungary.

Karen acts for clients ranging from private equity funds, banks, development finance institutions, multi-lateral development finance institutions, sovereigns, corporates and start-ups. Karen has acted on purely Hungarian transactions, but most of her matters have a cross-border element and she has worked on project financings in Asia, CIS, Africa and Latin America as well as in Europe and the CEE.

She has experience in the infrastructure, energy, real estate and agri-business sectors. Recent projects have involved the construction of motorways, tramlines, solar park projects, hydro powerplants, refineries, a urea production plant, fish farms, bottling factories, warehouses and residential projects.
