DLA Piper builds its ranking in “Best Lawyers” 2022 South Africa edition

DLA Piper has built on its standing in the 2022 edition of the “Best Lawyers” South Africa listing by adding another three directors.

Recognition by Best Lawyers is based entirely on peer review. It’s methodology is designed to capture, as accurately as possible, the consensus opinion of leading lawyers about the professional abilities of their colleagues within the same geographical area and legal practice area.

The three new directors included in this year's edition are:

  • André Visser – Corporate law
  • Kirsty Simpson – Litigation
  • Waseeqah Makadam – Construction law

They join the following three directors who have been previously listed:

  • Johannes Gouws – Corporate law and M&A law (ranked since 2011)
  • Janine Simpson – Competition/Antitrust law (ranked since 2014)
  • Bridget King – Banking and Finance law (ranked since 2019)

Johannes Gouws, Country Managing Partner, commented: “It is hugely encouraging to see recognition such as this from our peers, however, the success of the Johannesburg office is down to the quality, dedication and efforts of all our lawyers, not only those listed in these rankings. It is due to this collective effort that we are able to continue to deliver the high quality work and advice that our clients have come to expect from us.”
