DLA Piper wins big at the Partnerships Awards 2022

DLA Piper has been recognised in five award categories at the Partnerships Awards 2022, held in London on Thursday, 19 May. The firm topped the Environment, Social and Governance Company / Team of the Year and advised on three major projects to be recognised on the night in the Social Infrastructure Project of the Year (excl. Healthcare) 2021 category and the Transport Project of the Year 2021 category. Alison Fagan, Manchester-based Litigation and Regulatory partner, was also named Leading Woman in Infrastructure.

The Partnerships Awards are the industry’s biggest and most prestigious celebration of excellence in the industry. This year, the awards focused on the outstanding efforts made by organisations and individuals that went above and beyond in response to the particular challenges caused by the pandemic.

DLA Piper won the Environment, Social and Governance Company / Team of the Year category for implementing a range of internal policies and statements committing it to reducing energy usage and carbon emissions while setting out how it would meet these goals. This includes being the first law firm anywhere in the world to enter into a corporate power purchase agreement as an off-taker. The firm was recognised in the Social Infrastructure Project of the Year 2021 category for advising Welsh Ministers on the Welsh Education Partnership strategic project delivery programme to design, build, finance and maintain education and community facilities in Wales and the Transport Project of the Year 2021 award for advising Iduna Infrastructure Limited on the rollout and ongoing operation of its EV charging infrastructure network across Greater Manchester. The firm also advised Welsh Ministers on the A465 MIM project for the design, build, finance and maintenance of Sections 5 and 6 of the A465 road in South Wales, which was highly commended in the Transport Project of the Year 2021 category.

Lillian Mackenzie, partner and UK Head of Projects, commented: We are absolutely delighted to congratulate our clients and teams on their success at this high profile industry event. It was fantastic to see all their hard work and talent acknowledged in the Transport Project of the Year and the Social Infrastructure Project of the Year categories, as well as the recognition of our ground-breaking work in the ESG space and Alison Fagan’s special recognition as a Leading Woman in Infrastructure.”
