DLA Piper's relationship firm in New Zealand, DLA Phillips Fox, has officially become known as DLA Piper New Zealand on 2 March 2015, becoming the first global law firm brand operating in New Zealand.
The change in name formalises the growing integration of the New Zealand firm with DLA Piper. The New Zealand team comprises 25 partners and 67 lawyers, with a client base including New Zealand’s largest companies and organisations, as well as a number of international brands and companies operating in New Zealand.
Martin Wiseman, Chairman of DLA Piper New Zealand commented: "We are leading the legal services market in recognising and responding to the changing needs of clients as they become increasingly global or influenced by global trends.
"We advise international clients doing business in New Zealand and those New Zealand organisations doing business elsewhere, offering seamless service in all major regions and key markets. In every major sector and specialist practice, we provide innovative, commercially astute advice.
"DLA Piper New Zealand will continue to focus on building strong client relationships and attracting high quality partners, lawyers and graduates."
John Weber, Australia Managing Partner at DLA Piper, commented: "The close economic relations between New Zealand and Australia make it good business sense for DLA Piper to have a presence in New Zealand and the two businesses will continue to work very closely together."
