Nicholas Mallard is a Partner with the Litigation and Regulatory team based in DLA Piper's Hong Kong office. Nicholas is experienced in disputes relating to ship building, energy, offshore engineering, shipping, sales of goods and commercial litigation and in the conduct of international arbitration and mediation.

Nicholas deals with contentious shipping including charterparties, collisions, safe ports, pollution cases, salvage, wreck removal and contentious offshore engineering relating to construction of drilling rigs, installation of jacket structures and top sides, and pipe laying.

He has expertise in non-contentious areas such as the drafting of shipbuilding contracts for the design and construction of bulk carriers, car carriers, drilling rigs, various types of dredgers and for conversion of ships and of technical and crewing management contracts and of the drafting of charters.

He is a practitioner of arbitration with seat in London, Hong Kong, Singapore and the PRC and conducts and supervises litigation in all continents.

Since 2015, Nicholas has concentrated on heavy international arbitration involving energy and offshore engineering.
