Chris Neil has over 6 years' experience in advising leading Australian companies and foreign owned corporations operating in Australia in all aspects of Australian tax matters.

He has previously advised clients on a range of transactions including mergers, demergers, acquisitions, restructure, financing and infrastructure projects. He has advised both Australian companies and foreign clients operating in Australia on these transactions. In addition to advising clients on these transactions he has obtained private rulings for the ATO on many of types of transactions.

His areas of focus include drafting the tax aspects of legal documents, tax consolidation, capital gains tax, the debt/equity rules, taxation of financial arrangements regime, debt forgiveness rules, international tax, company and trust loss rules, and trusts.

In addition, Chris helps start-up companies to address tax considerations in their setup including structuring and funding. He also assists in designing employee share plans that achieve the company's objective in the most tax effective way for employees.

Chris also assists clients with various ATO reviews, audits, objections and litigation. Chris has acted for clients in tax disputes in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal, Federal Court and Full Federal Court.
