Kate Rogers has a focus on resource management law.

Kate has acted for a range of clients, providing advice to applicants, submitter and authorities. She works in the environment and public law team in our Wellington office, advising local and central government clients on all aspects of resource management and other regulatory issues.

EXPERIENCE

  • Providing ongoing advice on a range of matters under the Resource Management Act 1991.
  • Providing advice on a range of regulatory matters arising from the Canterbury Earthquake residential rebuild, primarily related to contaminated land, flood management areas, and existing use rights.
  • Preparation of resource consent and plan change applications.
  • Project managing case preparation at both the Council and Environment Court level, including evidence preparation and strategy.
  • Providing representation at Council hearings and the Environment Court for applicants and submitters on resource consent applications and plan changes.
  • Assisting in environmental enforcement proceedings, both in defending prosecutions and providing strategic advice to local authorities around enforcement action.
  • Providing advice on development contributions, including the ability to challenge development contributions.
  • Completing environmental due diligence review for land and commercial purchases.

Certain of the above matters were handled by Kate prior to joining DLA Piper.
