Kon Tsiakis practices in the area of commercial litigation, with a focus on restructuring and insolvency. He regularly advises clients in a range of matters including contractual breaches, tortious duties and equitable remedies and has conducted disputes in the State Supreme Courts, the Federal Court as well as in numerous specialist tribunals.

Kon also has a particular interest in the area of corporate restructuring and insolvency and regularly advises:

  • Major banks on the enforcement of their security and asset recovery strategy
  • Insolvency practitioners on all aspects of external administrations, including asset recovery, insolvent transactions and public examinations, and
  • Company directors on their duties generally and in particular relevant to insolvent trading.

In addition, Kon has international cross-border insolvency experience gained whilst employed by a major US law firm in London.

Kon also regularly advises companies and directors on regulatory compliance with the Corporations Act and investigations arising from alleged breaches having gained relevant experience as a senior analyst with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission.
