DLA Piper has been named Employer of Choice for Gender Equality by the Australian Government's Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA), in its second annual citation list released today.
The WGEA citation recognises DLA Piper's commitment and best practice in promoting gender equality in the workplace. The firm was also included in last year's citation.
DLA Piper Managing Partner in Australia, John Weber, said: "DLA Piper is firmly committed to ensuring we have a diverse and inclusive workforce, supporting equal participation at all levels of our business."
"Workplace gender equality remains a key focus for the firm, and we are pleased to once again be recognised by WGEA and included in their 2015 citation list."
This year’s WGEA applicants were required to consult with employees to demonstrate how gender equality initiatives translated into lived experience.
WGEA Director Libby Lyons said the initiatives demonstrated by this year’s recipients showed that more employers were taking a sophisticated and whole-of-organisation approach to promoting
women and men’s equal participation in the workplace.
"Employers increasingly understand and value the benefits of having a diverse workforce for organisational culture and business performance," Ms Lyons said.
"I congratulate all of the 2015 citation holders for their initiative and commitment. These employers are at the frontline of driving positive change as they set the gold standard for inclusive workplaces."
