Jun is a Senior Associate in the tax group at DLA Piper. Jun advises clients on the full range of Australian income tax including tax issues arising in major mergers, acquisitions, financing, restructures, capital raisings, international tax and energy and resources transactions - particularly in a cross-border context.

Jun has had extensive experience advising and assisting international and Australian clients in their inbound and outbound operations as well as assisting multinational clients in restructuring their domestic and international operations.

EXPERIENCE

  • Acting for a US-based clinical development company in respect of a non-dilutive financing transaction for up to USD170m to finance and advance the ongoing Phase 3 clinical trials and pre-commercialization activities of a listed Australian biotechnology company.
  • Advising a privately held real estate group, with assets of more than AUD500m, on the acquisition of new assets in the United Kingdom and Italy.
  • Advising a US-based cybersecurity company on the execution of an acquisition and also more generally on their position in relation to Australia’s anti-hybrid rules.
  • Advising a UK-based banking technology provider in undertaking a comprehensive review and advising on a Run Contract and Licence Agreement with a leading (top four) Australian bank.
  • Cross-border Tax Planning – Advising and assisting international and Australian clients in their inbound and outbound operations. Assist clients in restructuring their domestic and international operations in light of the recent Multinational Anti-Avoidance Law and Diverted Profits Tax.
  • Cross-border Financing Tax Issues- Advising inbound and outbound investment funds and financial institutions on the tax aspects of cross-border debt and equity financing.
  • Mergers & Acquisitions and Corporate Restructurings – Advising large multinationals in relation to their activities in the mergers & acquisitions space and global restructurings.
  • Dealings with ATO – Dealing with the ATO on a regular basis in the context of private and class rulings, settling outstanding tax liabilities, industry risk reviews and tax policy initiatives.
  • Renewable Energy Industry – Providing tax structuring advice to clients looking to establish solar and wind farms in the renewable energy sector.
  • Wealth Management – Advising investment banks on the tax implications of their wealth management strategies.
