EXPERIENCE

  • Successfully acting for a private investment fund based in Johannesburg, South Africa in the Federal Court of Australia for injunctive relief restraining a listed company and its directors from acting on a shareholder approval for a selective share buy-back in circumstances where the financial information which had been provided to shareholders proved to be misleading and deceptive.
  • Successfully acting for an ASX-listed company in the agriculture sector in obtaining urgent relief from the Federal Court of Australia in relation to breaches of statutory obligations arising out of historical discrepancies with the conduct of its former company secretary.
  • Assisted with a multi-million-dollar ICC arbitration seated in Singapore in relation to a dispute arising from an EPC Subcontract relating to the Onshore LNG Facilities forming part of the Ichthys Onshore LNG Project (Northern Territory), Australia's largest LNG project.
  • Advising main market listed teleradiology services group Medica Group in relation to its takeover by Swedish investment group, IK, by way of a GBP26m cash offer implemented by way of a scheme of arrangement.
  • Advising main market listed consultancy group RPS Group in relation to its takeover by Tetra Tech UK Holdings Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tetra Tech, Inc. by way of a GBP636m cash offer implemented by way of a scheme of arrangement.
  • Successfully acting on a family reunification appeal against the UK Home Office in respect of a refusal to grant visas for two teenage Somali boys who had been separated from their sister, who was their only remaining family member following a deadly attack by a Somali militant group on their family, which resulted in the death of their parents and the siblings being estranged for nearly 9 years.
