  • Aldersgate Funding – Litigation funding for DLA Piper clients for large-scale dispute resolution, available on a global basis. (Based in London)
  • Aiscension.AI. – A ground-breaking AI platform that can review two million documents in a day and detect cartels. The AI can be trained to detect any breaches of regulatory systems. (Based in London)
  • TOKO – An innovative tokenisation platform that mints security tokens on blockchain for financial and non-financial products. (Based in Hong Kong)
  • DLA Piper Business Advisory – A legal/consulting solutions business that provides clients with an integrated end to end solution in SEG and Integrated M&A. (Based in Australia and Hungary)
  • Enter Agora – a virtual environment, designed to host any event or meeting and house any form of content. A few steps further from video conferencing, Enter Agora gamifies the experience of visiting an exhibition, attending a conference, or stepping into a boardroom. (Based in London)
    Prior to his Aldersgate role, Jim was the Country Managing Partner for DLA Piper Australia where he had practiced for many years as a leading corporate lawyer.

  • Acting on behalf of a consortium in purchasing the Mineral Leases (Codrilla Project) from Macarthur Coal and Citic Coal
  • Acting on behalf of an energy company on its Australian corporate restructure 
  • Acting on behalf of a Queensland Government entity on the first tranche of the sale of Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal from Babcock & Brown Infrastructure to Brookfield Multiplex
  • Acting on behalf of a Queensland Government entity on the second tranche of the sale of Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal from Babcock & Brown Infrastructure to Brookfield Multiplex, including the scheme of arrangement and takeover
  • Acting for a Queensland Government entity on the long term lease of the Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal
  • Acting on behalf of the state for the corporatisation of a major government business
  • Acting on behalf of a Queensland Government entity in the sale of Brisbane Markets
  • Acting for a multinational shipping company in the establishment of a joint venture entity and then the sale of the business to the joint venture entity
  • Acting on behalf of one of the world's largest resources companies in a commercialisation agreement with a research cooperative for the commercial exploitation of patents and intellectual property. This also involved negotiating option agreements, joint venture agreements, subscription agreements and shareholder agreements
  • Advising a potential purchaser of the Australian Defence Industries Limited on tendering and contractual issues regarding the Commonwealth Government sale process. Including a six week due diligence on contracts and intellectual property rights
