Extension of EU sanctions targeting Russia

The Council of the European Union (EU) has extended the existing EU framework of trade and economic sanctions targeting specific Russian individuals and entities until 15 March 20161. These sanctions were due to end on 15 September 2015 after a previous extension2.

The extension maintains the asset freeze and travel ban targeting certain 'blacklisted' individuals, companies, entities and bodies ('Designated Persons')

To date, the asset freezing provisions and travel bans apply to 149 individuals and 37 entities.
