About
Jente is a senior associate in the restructuring and insolvency department of DLA Piper Belgium. He assists both financially distressed companies, as well as creditors and other stakeholders in restructuring negotiations (out-of-court) and formal insolvency proceedings. Jente also represents clients in insolvency-related litigation such as security enforcement, clawback actions, director liability claims, etc.

Jente is also a part-time lecturer at the universities of Leuven (KU Leuven) and Hasselt (UHasselt) where he teaches on Belgian securities and insolvency law. He regularly speaks at seminars and conferences and authored several publications on domestic and cross-border restructuring in leading national and international legal journals. His in-depth knowledge of cross-border debt restructuring has been acknowledged by the International Insolvency Institute (1st Prize - International Insolvency Studies - 2019), by whom he was elected as youngest member of the III NextGen Program – Class VIII of 2019.

EXPERIENCE

  • Assisting the Benelux market leader in façade construction with the successful completion of its formal insolvency proceedings resulting in a court-approved collective restructuring plan;
  • Advising an international agro-industrial group on its EUR300m syndicated debt restructuring;
  • Assisting a US-based PE firm with the enforcement on financial collateral situated in France pledged by a distressed Belgian IT Group;
  • Advising a multinational investment bank on a EUR225m refinancing operation through a sale-and-lease back construction of platinum-group metals owned by a Belgian glass fiber manufacturer
  • Representing a UK-listed energy services company in interim relief court proceedings to obtain the release of a Belgian bank guarantee granted for the installation of an oil production site in Iraq.
