‎4-6 Year Call Commercial Litigation Associate‎ – Toronto Office

The Toronto office of DLA Piper (Canada) LLP is looking for a talented associate with 4-6 years’ ‎experience in commercial litigation.  The successful candidate will work on a variety of litigation matters ‎for our clients, supported by an incredibly busy and talented team.  You will be a self-starter and looking ‎to punch above your weight in our very collegial and high functioning group.  You will be a proven team ‎player.‎

Specifically, the successful candidate’s skills and experience will include:‎

  • ‎Taking carriage and assisting at a high level in complex litigation matters with minimal supervision, and ‎overseeing junior lawyers and students as necessary;‎
  • Familiarity with Ontario court processes at all levels and strong advocacy skills;‎
  • Strong attention to detail and outstanding writing skills; ‎
  • Excellent client communication skills, working with market-leaders in a variety of industries.‎

You will contribute to a complex mix of high end work and be given the opportunity to expand your ‎litigation skills in many of our key areas, which include: international arbitration, general commercial ‎litigation, fraud recover work, as well as projects, construction and environmental litigation.  ‎

DLA Piper (Canada) LLP Vancouver office is newly looking for a talented mid-level associate with 3-6 years’ experience in Capital Markets/Securities, Corporate and M&A.  The successful candidate will have exposure to interesting and sophisticated corporate work in an incredibly busy and talented team.  You will be a self-starter, looking to punch above your weight, and always a team-player.

‎Specifically, the successful candidate’s skills and experience will include:

  • Advising clients on securities law compliance and a strong familiarity with applicable securities legislation, instruments and stock exchange rules;
  • Advising client companies on a broad array of corporate transactions, including debt and equity financings, going-public transactions and mergers and acquisitions; 
  • Advising both public and privately held companies on corporate governance, stock exchange rules and continuous disclosure obligations.

Our clients include publicly listed and privately held entities, so 3+ years’ experience from a national, international or very well-reputed law firm and/or mix of in-house work is highly desirable.  The team is made up of high performing and dedicated practitioners who are collegial, bright and committed to producing excellent results for our clients.  You will take a lead role, working closely with one very busy partner and another associate.
