DLA Piper (Canada) LLP is pleased to announce that Mary Hamilton from the firm's Vancouver office has been named a finalist for the 2017 YWCA Women of Distinction Awards, which honour women leaders who have made extraordinary contributions to their professions and to the broader community.
Mary has been the national leader of the firm’s Wills, Estates and Trusts Group for the past 10 years and is the co-author of Wills & Personal Planning Precedents: An Annotated Guide
. A hallmark of client advocacy, the Guide transformed industry practice by spearheading the use of plain language in legal documents. The definitive resource continues to be used by most law firms in BC.
For over 25 years, Mary has been actively involved in numerous wills and estates projects with the Continuing Education Society of BC. She also regularly leads estate planning workshops to assist families and individuals coping with disabilities and has worked closely with charitable organizations such as the Planned Lifetime Advocacy Network, the Autism Society of BC, the BC Schizophrenia Society, the Alzheimer Society of BC, and the Developmental Disabilities Association.
"Mary demonstrates the highest standards of professional integrity and is respected by her peers as a leader in her field," says Catherine Gibson, Office Managing Partner of the Vancouver office. "Her clients and colleagues can always count on her for good advice, sound judgement and an empathetic ear. She is a role model who makes the firm and her community a better place."
Winners will be announced at an awards gala in Vancouver on May 29, 2017. Meet all finalists for the 34th annual YWCA Women of Distinction Awards here >
