DLA Piper (Canada) LLP is pleased to be a top fundraiser for Pro Bono Going Public 2017, an annual outdoor legal advice-a-thon organized by Access Pro Bono that offers free legal advice to low and modest-income individuals across British Columbia.
A long-time sponsor of this important event, the firm applauds the efforts of our team of lawyers and articled students who not only volunteered their time to offer free counsel to those in need, but also individually raised a combined total of $6,095 in donations, placing second among participating teams. In total, this year’s advice-a-thon collected over $77,000 to support the wide range of Access Pro Bono programs that serve the legal needs of individuals and non-profit organizations with limited means.
Team DLA Piper included Morgan Burris, Monique Evans, Alex Hudson, Tamara Hunter, Michelle Isaak and Kristen Woo as well as articled students Dustin Chelen, Stephanie Ovens and Taryn Urquhart.
“DLA Piper is committed to advancing the well-being of our local communities. I am proud to work alongside my dedicated colleagues to help promote greater access to justice,” says Alex Hudson, an associate in the Vancouver office who organized the firm’s participation this year. “Special recognition in particular goes to Tamara, Michelle, Morgan and Taryn, who ranked among the top 20 individual fundraisers this year.”
