DLA Piper (Canada) LLP is pleased to announce it has reached an agreement with the Montréal office of Bretton Woods Law Canada (“Bretton Woods Canada”). Effective May 1, 2019, Bretton Woods Canada’s team of four lawyers and an articling student will join DLA Piper Canada’s Montréal office. The team brings with them a unique blend of capabilities and experience which will significantly expand upon the strength of the Montréal office and bolster our national service offering in the rapidly growing practice area of global compliance, international risk management and corporate investigations. Bretton Woods Canada focused on ethics & compliance, corporate investigations and international business risk.
Ayman Daher, Counsel, is specialized in investigations, risk management, administrative disputes, arbitration matters and litigation and has worked on or managed such files in over 30 jurisdictions. He has pleaded before all levels of the courts of Quebec up to and including the Quebec Court of Appeal and played a significant role on files brought to the Supreme Court of Canada. Ayman has worked extensively on shareholder and other corporate stakeholder disputes and has a deep understanding of the impact of criminal and commercial issues with regard to director liabilities. Ayman was the co-founding partner of Bretton Woods Canada.
Alan Sarhan, Counsel, is a business lawyer with broad experience in corporate and commercial law, mergers & acquisitions, engineering and construction law, international risk management, global compliance and corporate investigations. Alan has worked on several high-profile international corruption cases and corporate investigations in Asia, Africa, Europe and North America and has advised numerous Canadian public and private corporations on matters relating to ethics and compliance. He has unique expertise with the integrity rules of various international financial institutions, including the World Bank Group, the African Development Bank, the Asian Development Bank and the European Investment Bank. Alan was the co-founding partner of Bretton Woods Canada.
Daniel Chung, Associate,practises in the area of commercial and civil litigation and has advised clients on all aspects of litigation and dispute resolution, from strategic counselling to representation before the various levels of court. Daniel has worked on numerous provincial and national class action files.
François Tremblay, Associate, has a commercial and corporate law practice with specialized expertise in matters of integrity and compliance. He has had the opportunity to act in important matters in Africa, the Middle East, and Japan in which he assisted clients in reviewing, updating and drafting integrity compliance programs as well as in conducting internal investigations. He has also advised Canadian clients, both in the public and private sector, on matters of ethics and compliance.
Articling student Marie-Philippe Lavoie, from Université Laval, will also join the team for her articles.
