Eric C. Belli-Bivar is a Finance partner in the firm's Toronto office, his practice emphasizing debt finance, secured lending, structured finance, securitization and derivatives.

Eric provides a broad range of advice to both lenders and borrowers, including Canadian and foreign banks and other financial institutions. He also regularly provides advice to regulated financial institutions regarding Canadian Federal and Provincial regulatory requirements such as capital adequacy, outsourcing, “fintech” and derivatives.

Eric’s practice also includes Project Finance, including the financing aspects of P3 or public-private partnerships. Eric has participated in more than $10 Billion of placed debt since 2007. Credit facilities established include term, revolving and construction facilities, as well as public bond issues.

Eric also has extensive experience in relation to securitization transactions, and has represented originators, issuers, underwriters and rating agencies in connection with a multitude of securitization transactions, including mortgages, commercial loans, credit card receivables, vehicle lease payments and collateralized mortgage obligations. Clients represented include banks, credit unions, trust companies, leasing companies, electronics manufacturers, as well as other types of industries.

Eric is named by Chambers Global as a leading banking and finance practitioner in Canada, and was the past Chair of the firm’s National Banking and Financial Services Group. He is listed in Best Lawyers (Canada), the Legal 500 Canada and in Euromoney’s Guide to the World’s Leading Banking Lawyers (1999 – 2014). Eric was also named as a leading lawyer in the Guide to the World’s Leading Financial Law Firms published by the International Financial Law Review (2005 edition). Eric holds a BComm (Hons) from the University of British Columbia and an LLB from McGill University. He is called to the bars of British Columbia and Ontario.
