Brian Davison, Q.C. is a nationally recognized practitioner in commercial insolvency who is particularly well known in the oil and gas sector. He leads the Canadian Restructuring Group in delivering market-leading advice on all aspects of corporate restructuring, insolvency and bankruptcy across multiple sectors and jurisdictions.

Brian has been active on a number of major insolvency files. He is highly experienced in providing strategic advice to debtors and creditors in matters relating to bankruptcy, debt restructuring, corporate reorganizations, loan workouts, receiverships, asset recovery and realization proceedings.

Brian’s broad-reaching expertise extends to the efficient resolution of complex insolvency disputes, bolstered by close to 40 years of significant litigation practice. He has extensive experience in cases involving the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA) and the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act, and he has appeared before the Federal Court of Appeal in addition to all levels of court in the Province of Alberta.

Further reflecting his deep industry knowledge and integrated expertise, Brian has conducted trials involving oil and gas well drilling and servicing issues and, corporate/commercial disputes. He is counsel to the Canadian Association of Energy Contractors (CAOEC) and has also been counsel to several of the major oil and gas well drilling and service contractors in Alberta.
