Angela Furlanetto is an experienced trial counsel who has worked in intellectual property litigation for twenty years. Her practice focuses on complex patent litigation in the chemical, pharmaceutical, biotech and mechanical fields, where her litigation acumen is complemented by her advanced technical degree in biochemistry and her knowledge of the scientific issues.

Angela appears regularly before the courts and has received many accolades for her work as a litigator, particularly in the patent and life science areas. Angela has been described as a “top-notch litigator” who is “personable, calm, smart and thorough” by IAM Patent 1000 and as “a pragmatic counsel with a quick understanding of the issues” by the Legal 500 Canada. Angela handles all aspects of litigation practice and has considerable experience working with counsel in various jurisdictions, co-ordinating the Canadian part of multi-jurisdictional lawsuits. She has worked in all areas of intellectual property and intellectual property litigation, including with patents, trade-marks, copyright, industrial designs and trade secrets. She also routinely acts as a strategic advisor providing critical advice and opinions relating to intellectual property issues involving the life sciences and chemical sectors.

Angela is one of a select few IP litigators who has served on the Federal Court IP Users’ Committee, a liaison committee between the judiciary and the IP Bar and has represented the Canadian Bar Association as the IP Section representative on the Federal Court Bench and Bar Committee.
