Andrew Lord’s practice includes corporate/commercial matters, private company M&A, and project development and financing. He has particular expertise in the renewable power sector and frequently works on international mandates.

Andrew advises clients on a variety of fundamental corporate matters, including establishing new businesses, addressing private company shareholder and governance issues, negotiating complex service and supply agreements, and implementing joint ventures.

Andrew has helped both buyers and sellers on significant M&A transactions. These deals have spanned a variety of industries, including aviation, engineering services, IT, agriculture, and transportation.

He has advised both lenders and developers on the financing of several projects.  While most of these deals were based on a non-recourse project finance model, several had unique challenges that Andrew helped implement, including aggregating an evolving portfolio of projects under a single credit facility, securing a long tenure loan against an unconventional revenue stream, and working with an unconventional lender.  

Andrew has significant experience in the Canadian renewable energy sector.  He has acted for developers, EPC firms, equipment suppliers, lenders and investors on wind, solar and biomass projects.

Andrew regularly assists international companies in establishing and growing their Canadian presence, whether through greenfield expansions or strategic acquisitions.  Andrew also advises Canadian clients as they expand internationally.  He has assisted several prominent Canadian healthcare clients undertake new initiatives in China.

With prior work experience in Hong Kong and Sweden and a background in engineering and business consulting, Andrew’s unique and international perspective enables him to provide legal advice tailored to his client’s technical and business needs.
