Danny Nunes practises in the areas of corporate restructuring and insolvency.‎

Danny has extensive experience acting on behalf of financial institutions, creditors, debtors, trustees in ‎bankruptcy and Court-appointed receivers, monitors and liquidators in all types of proceedings including ‎bankruptcies, proposals, receiverships and corporate restructurings, including complex cross-border Court ‎proceedings. He also advises lenders with respect to security enforcement, in addition to assisting clients ‎with the development and implementation of strategies in respect of the enforcement of contractual rights ‎and remedies.‎

Danny’s clients include lenders and borrowers in financing and debt refinancing transactions, corporate ‎clients with respect to regulatory compliance issues and applicable legislation and regulatory bodies such ‎as the Ontario Securities Commission and Mutual Fund Dealers Association in respect of non-complying ‎issuers and dealers.‎

Danny also has extensive experience acting for clients in the purchase and sale of distressed assets.‎

Danny advises his clients in developing and implementing risk management and litigation strategies, ‎including the preparation of Court materials and contested applications and motions before all levels of ‎Court in Ontario.‎

  • Counsel to shareholders/creditors in receivership proceedings involving large Ontario regional ‎construction materials, home design and renovation group of companies
  • Counsel to HUK 10 Limited, an affiliate of Hilco UK Limited, the appointing secured creditor in the ‎receivership proceedings of HMV Canada Inc.‎
  • Counsel to Richter Advisory Group as court-appointed Receiver of Strellmax Ltd. (Strellson Canada)‎
  • Counsel to Talon International Inc. and affiliates in receivership proceedings of Trump Hotel (Toronto)‎
  • Counsel to Zaff LLC in multi-jurisdictional restructuring proceedings of MBAC Fertilizer Corp
  • Counsel to Fraser Papers Inc. and its Canadian and U.S. subsidiaries in cross-border CCAA ‎proceedings involving sale of pulp and paper mill assets located in Quebec, Maine and New Brunswick
  • Regularly acts as counsel to Schedule 1 financial institutions in both formal insolvency proceedings and ‎out of court workouts
