María José has advised national and international lenders, borrowers and financial entities in various financing transactions, including fourth-generation projects, a major regasification terminal in Colombia, syndicated loans and aircraft financing.

She additionally participated in the establishment of a joint venture to offer training services, as well as advised the Colombian government in the negotiation of public law contracts and in public policy making.

Prior Experience

Before joining the firm, María José worked on the banking and financial services team at a major accounting firm, where she advised clients in the development of project finance and cross-border transactions and participated in the negotiation and drafting of financing agreements.

María José additionally worked in the contracts legal department of one of the largest companies in Colombia as well as in the legal department of the Vice-Presidency of Colombia, where she oversaw the negotiation and drafting of contracts, including inter-administrative agreements, provision of services and international cooperation agreements.

She interned with the energy, extractive industries and climate change team at an international affairs think tank in Washington, DC, where she analyzed Latin American policy and project development opportunities for the region.
